Crock Pot Barbecue Chicken - Before and During Parosmia

I used to make this easy BBQ chicken before I had anosmia. I always loved the way it smelled while it was cooking. I've made it in larger quantities for a big group of people. It's also a great recipe for a summer party.

I was afraid to make it again when I first had parosmia because I thought the smell would make me sick. But when I did finally make it, I could still slightly smell the sweetness from the sauce and I could eat it because the sweet sauce covers up the chicken flavor.

Crock Pot Barbecue Pulled Chicken

Ingredients:

  • Chicken, about 2–3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

  • 1 cup barbecue sauce

  • 1 Tbsp olive oil

  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 Tbsp brown sugar

Instructions:

  1. Combine the barbecue sauce, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce and brown sugar.

  2. Pour the barbecue sauce mixture into a crock pot. Add chicken and coat with the sauce.

  3. Cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours.

  4. Remove the chicken and pull it apart using two forks. Put the shredded chicken back into the crock pot and stir into the sauce.

  5. Serve it plain, on buns or (as my son likes it) on white rice.

Even though, all of my recipes are adapted to my parosmia palate, anybody can enjoy these tasty creations.
